CRITICS REVIEWS

"Amy Glazer is best known in the Bay Area as a theater director, but she is also an accomplished filmmaker, whose 2010 film, “Seducing Charlie Barker,” was one of the sharpest comedies of that year. Her latest film, “The Surrogate,” operates in a similar vein."

"San Jose State University professor and Oakland filmmaker Amy Glazer comes up with another winner with her thoroughly enjoyable “The Surrogate.” Formerly titled the innocuous “Beautiful Dreamer,” it’s a warm, witty and relatable tale with couple Sara (Jennifer Mudge) and Billy (Louis Ozawa Changchien) anxiously navigating the imminent arrival of a son via a surrogate."

"Oakland-based director and San Jose State University professor Amy Glazer returns to the festival with a moving drama about a strong and talented granddaughter (Alixzandra Dove, who also is a co-producer) and grandmother (the wonderful Wendie Malick, also a co-producer and a Glazer regular) who discover they have things in common and a legacy that binds them."
